Barking dogs seldom bite

It is a very common saying that the dogs who bark loudly do not bite. These dogs bark but they do not harm others. They bark from a distance and use all their energy only in barking. These types of dogs lack courage so they can't attack either man or any other animal. Similarly sometimes the clouds thunder and become dark giving the impression that it is going to rain heavily, however it may not rain.

Dogs by their very nature bark loudly. Especially when they see unknown persons or strangers they bark loudly and nonstop. It is their way to tell their master that some unknown person has come. This is the very reason dogs are kept as watchdogs or guards in most houses. Such dogs only bark loudly and constantly they only frighten the strangers and they do not bite. However some dogs do not bark and are very timid and meek, however such dogs may actually be ferocious and may bite.

This proverb can be aptly compared to human nature. We come across persons who keep on boasting and talking, though their words may not make any sense, but they have great pride in blabbering. Their talks may be 90% lies and fake talk. Some persons talk a lot and threaten and remark obnoxious things, however such persons are harmless and are actually afraid of doing anything. On the other hand meek and simple people may be dangerous and treacherous persons. They don't speak much hence we can never judge such persons.

Nowadays this saying is very true about the leaders of our nations. They shout and make tall promises very loudly from the platform before the innocent public. They promise that they will do many things and later on they forget everything. Poor people only wait for the time to come when their promises will be fulfilled. But the time never comes and they become disappointed. They have come to know that the people who talk much can do nothing in practical. People having key positions and leaders talk great things only when their selfish motives have to be fulfilled as in the period of elections when they have to get the votes from the innocent people. But now people have become wise enough and they do not believe on such people who talk much and do nothing. As the dogs of good breed seldom bark but can attack others skillfully. In the same way the people who talk less and boast less can do noble great deeds.
