All roads lead to Rome

In ancient period Rome was considered to be the most famous city of the world. It was also known in the centre of the world. The great English poet, Chaucer of l4th century wrote that all the different paths lead to Rome. This proverb can be traced to the period after the Greek civilization when Rome was founded as a city. The city slowly established itself as one of the leading military powers in that region, slowly an empire appeared which was called as the Roman Empire. The Roman Empire was the centre of all the civilization in that period. Gradually it conquered a lot of countries in that region and at the height of its empire the Roman Empire spread from Germany in the east up to Spain and encompassed even a part of United Kingdom. Most of the administrative decisions for this big kingdom originated from Rome and it became the centre of the ancient world. Moreover the Roman civilization had a very good network of roads to travel to the various provinces and most of them were connected to Rome which was the centre of the Roman Empire.

This proverb means that all the different paths lead to the great city of Rome.

Each and every human beings rich or poor one day has to embrace death. It is the only goal of their life. In spite of this known fact human beings are greedy, selfish, unhappy , not contented in life. Each person tries to prove he is far more superior. He walks with a mask on his face.

As we see all the rivers of the world, flow through different directions and in the end they lose their identity and fall into the deep blue ocean and become one single ocean. In the same manner people throughout the world are different in color, languages and professions but their aim of earthly existence is the same. Their joys and sorrows are the same.

We give emphasis to religion and communalism which is the root cause of worries and miseries and war. We all separately insist to attain our own rites and rituals. Sometimes it causes many differences and conflicts among the people, They make it a communal issue and create chaos in the society. They forget at the moment that God is only one and the aim of all the religions is also one that means the realization of God. God who is the origin of whole of the universe and everything living or nonliving has to emerge into one as is said all the roads lead to Rome.

In short this proverb instills in us the human values of being good hearted, generous and live as peace loving persons respecting all humans as they are. After all the end for each one of us is the same.
