An idle brain is a devil's workshop

The literal meaning of this proverb is that any person who has nothing to do will be tempted to do many unproductive and mischievous acts. Man's brain is computerized workshop. The wonderful inventions which we are enjoying today are all invented by the brains of men. Man can create anything constructive as well as destructive.

When a person is busy with some business and has some meaningful aims he does not get time to think of doing something which proves to be harmful for others. The persons who have nothing to do and whose minds are idle can think of rubbish ideas. They implement those rubbish ideas into practice which may cause destruction and chaos in the society. A person's mind devoid of noble ideas is known as a devil's workshop where destructive ideas will take place. Keeping the brain idle is very dangerous for the person and society too.

Nowadays advancement in technology has in a sense become a boon and bane. Life has become very simple and easy, everything is possible on the click of a button. Unlike our ancestors who had to struggle for their daily bread and butter. Moreover life was full of hardships and there was lot of activities to be done on a daily and regular basis. Youngsters today do not have to struggle or do any meager tasks. Machines , equipments and gadgets do all the required work. The youth therefore have ample idle time, it is this that provokes them to do unproductive tasks and activities. The advent of the Internet and electronic communication has given a further impetus to these youngsters.

Nowadays the youngsters of our country are going astray because they have nothing constructive to do. Schools and college are only producing clerks or jobless youths. Government . is also not capable of giving jobs to every youth. Parents too do not pay attention to the careers of their children. Every youth has tremendous energy to do something creative and challenging. This is not possible if he does not get the right directions. They also become militants which is the most dangerous enemy of man. Hence each and every person should be provided with the right opportunities to grow and develop. The frustrated people who have higher ideals can't achieve them and they become the devils of the society and harm it. They always try to take revenge upon others. That's why it is true that an idle brain is a devil's workshop.

This proverb though coined years ago is more relevant today. It is very important to keep our minds constructively occupied so that it will become a God’s workshop and not a devil's workshop.
